Nakul Bhardwaj: The First Indian Male Model to Walk the Ramp for Versace

Breaking barriers and making history, Nakul Bhardwaj has become the first Indian male model to grace the runway for the prestigious Italian fashion house, Versace. At just 21, Nakul joined the ranks of global superstars Gigi Hadid and Vittoria Ceretti at Versace’s Spring/Summer 2025 show during Milan Fashion Week, marking a significant milestone in his burgeoning modeling career.

Following in the footsteps of Avanti Nagrath, who set a precedent as the first Indian female model to walk for Versace in 2022, Nakul’s achievement further amplifies India’s growing influence in the international fashion scene. Hailing from Delhi, Nakul’s journey to this moment was marked by determination and resilience.

Walking alongside Gigi Hadid and Vittoria Ceretti, who are among the world’s top-earning models, was a dream come true for Nakul. Vittoria Ceretti, known for her high-profile modeling career and relationship with Hollywood icon Leonardo DiCaprio, added to the buzz around the event. Reflecting on his experience, Nakul shared with Hindustan Times, “When Gigi and Vittoria took their spots, my excitement and nervousness were palpable. But once I hit the runway, I felt like a supermodel myself.”

Nakul’s journey was not without its challenges. He battled food poisoning twice just days before the show, but his resolve remained unshaken. “I knew this was my moment,” he said, recounting his rigorous two-month gym routine to perfect his physique. His dedication paid off, as he walked the ramp with confidence and flair.

Recalling the life-changing moment when he learned he had been selected for Versace, Nakul said, “I was at a friend’s place in Milan, feeling disheartened by the lack of callbacks from castings. Then, I received an email titled ‘Job-Versace.’ It was one of the best feelings I’ve ever experienced.”

Nakul Bhardwaj’s success is a testament to his hard work and perseverance. As the first Indian male model to walk for Versace, he has not only shattered stereotypes but also paved the way for more Indian talent to shine on global runways. His achievement is a proud moment for India and an inspiration for aspiring models everywhere.
