Manish Malhotra Becomes First Indian Designer to Showcase Collection at Harrods, London

New Delhi: Renowned fashion designer Manish Malhotra has become the first Indian designer to showcase his collection at the prestigious Harrods in London. Malhotra, a favorite among celebrities, unveiled his ‘World Collection’ at the exclusive Private Shopping Penthouse of Harrods, marking a historic milestone.

Malhotra’s showcase will run from September 16 to September 29, coinciding with the 175th anniversary of Harrods, the iconic British luxury department store. With a career spanning over 30 years, Malhotra’s latest collection pays tribute to India’s rich craftsmanship, blending traditional elements with contemporary design.

According to a press release, the collection features gowns, saree-gowns, and brocade jackets, inspired by traditional sari drapes, brought to life with intricate zardozi, chikankari, and gota patti embroidery. Luxurious fabrics like silk, velvet, and chiffon evoke the grandeur of India’s past, balanced with modern silhouettes.

One standout ensemble celebrates Harrods’ 175th anniversary by incorporating the store’s signature green hue, symbolizing a fusion of Indian opulence and the store’s legacy. This collaboration not only highlights Indian craftsmanship but also bridges the gap between East and West, signaling a new era in global fashion.

The collection serves as a tribute to cultural convergence, elevating the elegance of Indian artistry to new international heights.
